Iggy Pop en Josh Homme werken samen

Queens of the Stone Age zanger Josh Homme heeft samen met Iggy Pop aan een album gewerkt. Het nieuwe album van Iggy Pop, getiteld Post Pop Depression, is in samenwerking met Homme in elkaar gezet. De plaat komt uit op 18 maart via Loma Vista.

Naast Homme hebben ook toetsenist Dean Ferita (QOTSA/ The Dead Weather), gitarist Troy van Leeuwen (QOTSA), drummer Matt Helders (Arctic Monkeys) en bassist Matt Sweeny (Chavez) aan de plaat gewerkt. Er is al aangekondigd dat deze formatie op tour gaat, maar er zijn nog geen concertdata bekend gemaakt.

Iggy Pop legt uit dat de plaat vooral gaat wat er gebeurd nadat de wereld interesse in iemand verliest:

“What happens after your years of service? And where is the honor? In American life, because it’s so hypercompetitive, what happens when you’re finally useless to everyone except hopefully not yourself? What happens then? And can you continue to be of use to yourself? I had a kind of character in mind. It was sort of a cross between myself and a military veteran.”

Het laatste album van Pop werd uitgebracht met The Stooges in 2013 en heet Ready to Die.
