Dave Lombardo (Slayer) onderdeel van Misfits reünie

Eerder dit jaar kondigde zanger Glenn Danzig aan dat hij samen met bassist Jerry Only en gitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein onder de naam The Original Misfits weer een aantal shows zal spelen. Over een drummer was echter nog niets bekend, tot nu. Het is in Rolling Stone aangekondigd dat Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo voor deze shows op de drumkruk plaats zal nemen.

Lombardo geeft aan het een eer te vinden:

“The Misfits created the horror punk attitude and had a massive influence on modern rock, punk and metal. It was an easy decision for me to join them for these monumental shows. I was honored to be asked, and am very excited to be playing with the band.”

Jerry Only legt uit dat het ook voor hem een eenvoudige beslissing was:

“When Dave Lombardo’s name was thrown into the ring, Glenn and I were immediately on the same page from the very start; a good sign of things to come. I think the darker side of punk we created with the Misfits spawned the growth and evolution of punk into thrash, and sired bands like Metallica and Slayer, just as we inspired countless others in the punk revolution.”

De twee shows zullen plaats vinden op het Riot Fest. Of de formatie ook naar Europa komt is niet bekend.
