Anohni protesteert tegen uraniummijn

De Brits-Amerikaanse zangeres Anohni zal uit protest tegen een uraniummijn 110 mijl (ongeveer 177 km) door de Australische woestijn lopen. De zangeres zal vanaf morgen (3 juni) samen met 100 anderen op een 8 dagen lange tocht door het Parnngurr gebied trekken.

Anohni bracht in 2013 tien dagen door met de inheemse Martu stam in het westerse Australische woestijn gebied. Hierna doneerde ze al diverse concertopbrengsten aan deze gemeenschap.

De mijnbouw in het Parnngurr gebied zou een bedreiging voor de Martu en andere omliggende stammen vormen. Bekijk de aankondiging van de protestmars hieronder via Instagram.

Anhoni bracht vorige maand haar solodebuut Hopelessness uit. Op 26 juni zal de zangeres het Down The Rabbit Hole festival afsluiten.
