John Frusciante (Ex-RHCP) geeft gratis muziek weg

Voormalig Red Hot Chili Peppers gitarist John Frusciante heeft via Soundclaoud en Bandcamp een lading nieuw materiaal vrijgegeven. De hoop muziek gratis te downloaden en streamen en bevat o.a. elektronische experimenten en samenwerkingen met Omar Rodrigues-Lopez van At the Drive In.

In een statement over de actie zegt de muzikant het volgende:

“Giving people music for free online being so common these days is a good reminder that artistic expression is always a matter of giving, not taking, or selling,” he writes. “Selling is the making money part, and artistic expression, creation, is the giving part. They are distinct from one another, and it is my conviction that music should always be made because one loves music, regardless of whether one plans on selling it or not.”

Frusciante was twee keer led van Red Hot Chili Peppers: van 1988 tot 1992 en van 1998 tot 2009.
