Travis Barker ‘niet boos’ op Tom DeLonge

Blink-182-drummer Travis Barker heeft in een recent interview laten weten niet boos te zijn op Tom DeLonge. Begin dit jaar kwam naar buiten dat de zanger en gitarist de band zou hebben verlaten, waarna hij dit zelf ontkende. Nu, weken later, is nog steeds niet duidelijk hoe de toekomst van Blink-182 eruit zal zien.

“If anything, I just wish he would own up to not wanting to be in the band and go do his other stuff. There’s a sympathy card he’s pulling right now. And that doesn’t even really piss me off, it’s just kind of childish. But if years down the line it makes sense, I’ll never say never,” aldus Barker. “After my plane crash and everything, I made a promise to myself not to deal with bullshit. Life’s too short, man.”

Mark Hoppus en Travis Barker hebben niet te intentie te stoppen en voorlopig vervangt Alkaline Trio-gitarist Matt Skiba DeLonge’s plaats in de band. Eerder deze week plaatste Hoppus een foto van de band in de (tijdelijke?) nieuwe formatie op zijn Instagram, deze is hier te bekijken.

“I say this with no bad intention in my body: [Matt] is killing it. It’s one thing to have someone there that is not only motivated and stoked to be playing, but he just sings on key; harmonies exist now,” zegt de drummer. “It’s 100 percent different and it’s awesome. It’s kind of like when something happens to you and you’re like, ‘Damn, this is the way it should be.’ So it was kind of a bum-out how it happened, but it’s been amazing.”
