The 16th installment in the limited run Daytrotter Presents vinyl series, this 180-gram, split 12-inch vinyl features one of Canada’s great exports in twin sisters Tegan & Sara and a young New York City-based songwriter who is showing the same pure pop melodicism that the Quinn sisters have perfected over the years. The Tegan & Sara side was recorded in 2010, when the band was touring through the Midwest in support of its 2009 album, “Sainthood.” The songs on Weiss’ side show the 26-year-old singing about love in a way that makes us feel that she believes in it, even after it’s hurt her. They are the kind of emotions you set on a turntable and listen to in the dark.
